Meet the Crew

How We Got Started

Our journey began on Jeffrey's Ledge, where the two founders of our company, Dari and Molly, crossed paths while working together on a whale watch boat. United by a shared passion for marine life and a deep concern for the environment, they often found themselves engrossed in conversations about the challenges facing our oceans. It was during one of these conversations that the idea to combat the invasive green crab population took root. Inspired by their combined expertise in marine biology and a burning desire to make a positive impact, they decided to embark on this ambitious mission. As fate would have it, our marketing director, Mark, joined the team, bringing his extensive experience from his time at the Isles of Shoals. Together, they formed the foundation of our dedicated team, committed to preserving our coastal ecosystems and reducing the threat posed by the invasive green crab.

Meet the Crew

Dari Christenson

Co-Owner / Waterfront Manager

Dari moved to Rye, NH at the age of 11. At 14 she got a job at a local lobster pound and soon befriended a seasoned lobster fisherman who agreed to take her out lobstering. She announced to her father a few years later, she did not want to attend college but wanted to be a lobster fisher. Her father said, you can do that, after you get a degree.

Dari graduated with a degree from UNH in Tourism /Recreation Business Management. She worked for 20 years for NH Seacoast Cruises, Inc., out of Rye Harbor, as a crew member, general manager, and captain. She currently works as a program manager for a marine education volunteer group. Dari also enjoys knitting and spending time with her two grown sons and her chocolate Labrador, Chewie.

Molly Shanahan

Co-Owner / Sustainability Engineer

Molly grew up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and has been working in Rye Harbor since the age of 15, starting at the Rye Harborside breakfast stand. She’s spent the better part of the last decade working as a deckhand on Granite State Whale Watch where she discovered her passion for marine mammals and ocean conservation.

She obtained her Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from RPI in 2017. After working as an engineer in the nuclear field for three years she realized she was happiest on the water and decided to come back to the ocean. Molly is also a landscape and wildlife photographer. If she’s not on the water you can usually find her somewhere in the mountains or crocheting with her cats, Finn (he has thumbs) and Binx (he has fangs).

Mark Nash

Sales & Marketing

Mark has been living and working on the water from a very early age, having spent most of his career out at The Isles of Shoals off the coast of NH and Maine. Although like most folks working at the Shoals it was a seasonal endeavor, he has been there every month of the year working in various capacities. Most recently this work included a position as a deckhand on the Uncle Oscar out of Rye NH, which serves as a ferry to Star Island in the summer.

In the off season,  Mark works as a crane operator for Pepperrell Cove Marine Services. In high school Mark was admitted as an early entry to Berklee School of Music but the lure of the ocean drew him back to the sea. He continues to play music as a hobby.
